Product & App Design

A component library is not a design system. Most companies have the former and think they have the latter.

A design system defines what your buttons and cards look like. It doesn't decide how forty screens in a dashboard should be organized, where a new feature belongs in the information architecture, or what a user sees when a report comes back empty. That's the gap this service fills — taking your actual product surface, screen by screen, and designing it with the same rigor a Staff-level in-house designer would bring, without the multi-month hiring process. It's especially valuable for teams that already have a design system but no one applying it consistently to real product work.

Signs You Need This

You have a design system but no one designing full flows with it consistently

Your dashboard grew organically and now lacks a coherent information architecture

You need app or product screens designed but can't justify a full-time hire yet

Users or investors describe the product as feeling "unfinished" or "inconsistent"

Ideal For

Ideal Fit
• SaaS companies building or expanding a dashboard
• Startups without in-house product design capacity
• Teams with a design system that isn't being applied consistently
Not a fit if
You only need a marketing or landing page — that's the Website Design & Development service, not this one.

What’s Included

Full screen design for core app or dashboard flows, production-ready in Figma
Component usage aligned to your existing design system, or informed by one if none exists
Responsive and adaptive layouts for every screen in scope
Interaction and state design: empty, loading, and error states included, not left out
Developer handoff documentation and detailed specs
One round of design QA after development, before launch

The Outcome

A product surface that looks and functions like it was designed by one cohesive team — not stitched together screen by screen over time.

How It Works

01
Flow & IA mapping
Map the information architecture of the dashboard or app before any pixel-level work starts.
02
Screen design
Full design of core flows, screen by screen, built in Figma using or informing your design system.
03
States & edge cases
Empty, loading, error, and edge case design for each flow — the details most teams skip.
04
Dev handoff & QA
Documented specs plus one QA pass after development, before launch.

Common Questions

Do you design new features, or redesign existing ones?

Both — the engagement can cover new feature design, redesigning existing flows, or a mix, depending on what's scoped during discovery.

How many screens or flows are typically included?

It depends on complexity — this is scoped per engagement rather than a fixed number, since a single complex flow can take as long as several simple ones.

Do you also build a design system as part of this?

Not by default — if you need one built rather than just applied, that's the Design System Architecture service, which pairs naturally with this one.

What if we don't have an existing design system?

The engagement can still proceed — screens are designed using sound patterns that could inform a system later, though results are strongest when a system already exists.

Can you work directly with our engineering team during development?

Yes — developer handoff and a post-development QA pass are both included as standard.
